This exhibit explores the concept of waves: what they are, how we perceive them and the ways they relate to our daily lives. It will be comprised of four interactive exhibit sections:
Waves 101: The Basics
What is a wave?
Different types of waves: Longitudinal, Transverse, Surface, Standing
What is interference?
Sound
- How sound is generated?
- Characteristics of sound: Frequency, Amplitude, Waveform
- Seeing Sound Exhibits (oscilloscope, standing wave tube)
- Constructive and destructive interference in sound waves.
Light
- What is light?
- Electromagnetic Spectrum
- Infrared, Visible and Ultra-violet light
- Colors of visible light, rainbows
- Wave and particle nature of light
